Academic CV

Hugo Fortes is  Associated Professor at the University of São Paulo (School of Arts and Communication) since 2008. From 2004 to 2006 he lived in Berlin, Germany, where he developed a part of his doctorate (PhD) in arts with a scholarship of the German Service of Academic Exchange (DAAD). His doctorate dissertation “Liquid Poetics: The Water in Contemporary Art” received the first national prize in Brazil, as the best Dissertation in Arts in 2007.  In 2016 he became Associated Professor with the Habilitation Dissertation "Overflights among Men, Animals, Space and Time". He was invited scholar at the Universität der Künste Berlin and at the Münster University in Germany and at the Columbus State University in USA. He also gave lectures at the Max-Planck Institut - Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florence, at Brighton University UK,  Georgia State University USA, Columbus State University USA, East Stroudsburg University, UNAM México, ANPAP Brazil, among other institutions. Since 2011 he organizes regularly the International Conference Art and Nature. Leader of the Research Group Imaginatur (Images of Nature).
