Hugo Fortes is a Visual Artist, Curator, Designer and Associated Professor at the University of São Paulo. As an artist, he has presented his work in more than 15 countries, in venues such as George-Kolbe Museum Berlin, Ludwig Museum Koblenz Germany, Galerie Artcore Paris, Columbus University USA, Royal Academy of Arts of Kopenhagen, Paço das Artes São Paulo, Brasil, Videobrasil, Centro Cultural Recoleta, Argentina, etc. From 2004 to 2006 he lived in Berlin, with a fellowship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for a PhD research stay. In 2006 he presented his PhD Dissertation "Liquid Poetics: water in contemporary art", which was awarded with the CAPES National Award of Dissertation in Arts in Brazil In 2016 he became full professor with the habilitation thesis "Overflights between Men, Animals, Time and Space: Thoughts on Art and Nature", at the University of São Paulo, where he works as a lecturer since 2008. His research as an artist and docent focuses on art and nature, highlighting landscape, animals and water.
Hugo Fortes é Artista Visual, Curador, Designer e Professor Associado da Universidade de São Paulo, Brasil. Como artista, já apresentou seu trabalho em mais de 15 países, em locais como George-Kolbe Museum Berlin, Ludwig Museum Koblenz Alemanha, Galerie Artcore Paris, Columbus University USA, Academia Real de Artes de Kopenhagen, Paço das Artes São Paulo, Brasil, Videobrasil, Centro Cultural Recoleta, Argentina, etc. De 2004 a 2006 viveu em Berlim, como bolsista do Serviço de Intercâmbio Acadêmico Alemão (DAAD), para realização de estágio doutoral. Em 2006 defendeu a tese "Poéticas Líquidas: a água na arte contemporânea", que recebeu o Prêmio Nacional CAPES de Tese em Artes no Brasil. Em 2016 tornou-se livre-docente com a tese "Sobrevoos entre Homens, Animais, Tempos e Espaços: Pensamentos sobre Arte e Natureza", na Universidade de São Paulo, onde atua como professor desde 2008. Sua pesquisa como artista e como docente é voltada pelas relações entre arte e natureza, com destaque para questões relativas à paisagem, aos animais e à água.
