Hugo Fortes is visual artist, curator, designer and professor at the Universidade de São Paulo. From 2004 to 2006 he lived in Berlin, Germany, where he developed a part of his doctorate (PhD) in arts with a fellowship of the German Service of Academic Exchange (DAAD). His doctor thesis “Liquid Poetics: The Water in Contemporary Art” received the first national prize in Brazil, as the best Thesis in Arts in 2007. He teaches seminars to graduation, master and PhD students, in visual art and design at the School of Arts and Communication and at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism at Universidade de São Paulo. In 2005 he was invited to teach a seminar in the Universität der Künste Berlin, Germany. In 2009 he made a post-doc research at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism at the Universidade de São Paulo, under the theme “Interaction between Nature and Science in the Contemporary Art“. In 2011 he organized the First International Seminar Art and Nature at Goethe Institut São Paulo and at Matilha Cultural. He presents articles regularly in International Congresses und Meetings, such as CAA College of Arts Association, Seminar Visualising Science in the University of Brighton, Simposio Representación en La Ciencia y Arte, Universidad de Córdoba, ANPAP Brazil, Encontros SESC Videobrasil.
